Is ACCA recognised in Malaysia?

ACCA is an internationally recognised professional qualification. They are widely recognised by multinational firms or organisations. It is also recognised in the Malaysian public sector, a highly sought after qualification. Having your ACCA membership means you are able to apply to be a Chartered Accountant under the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) under the Part II of the First Schedule of the Accountants Act, 1967.

In fact, ACCA is not only recognised in Malaysia but is recognised globally with job opportunities in hundred of countries. ACCA can be your global passport to a worldwide careers.

Is Math Compulsory for ACCA?

There are many wrongly perceived that to study ACCA programme, one must be very good in Mathematics. To study an ACCA programme, one is expected to have a credit in Mathematic for the SPM / IGCSE / equivalent exams.

How much does ACCA programme cost me?

Assuming that you have to complete all 13 papers in ACCA (without any exemptions) you will have to invest about RM17,000 in tuition which are payable over a period of 3 years. The exam and registration fees payable to ACCA UK would be approximately RM10,000. The entire ACCA course can be completed with less than RM30,000.

Can I opt for Self-Study option?

A student can opt for any modes of study for the ACCA programme. However, as an approved learning partner, we have the best team of experienced lecturers to guide you through the journey of your ACCA studies. Attending classes mean that you will be more informed of all the course requirements, having access to course materials, support for studies are available. Our ACCA programme is available in both “classroom-based” or “online-based.”

What is the shortest time to complete my ACCA?

The time required to complete your ACCA shall depend on your entry pathway. If a student is to commence from the first level of ACCA, beginning from the Applied Knowledge papers, it will have a total of 13 papers to complete which require the shortest time of 2.5 years. An accounting degree holder with a full exemption of 9 fundamental papers would only require to complete 4 strategic professional papers with a minimum duration of 1 year. There is no time limit for the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills levels. The time limit applies to Strategic Professional papers.

Can I start ACCA after my SPM or IGCSE?

You can commence ACCA using the ACCA FIA route, by just completing FIA BT, MA and FA papers in 6 months, you can transfer to ACCA Skills level.

However, we will have to assess your background (experience, prior accounting knowledge) and even a placement test to ascertain if it is appropriate for you to commence ACCA directly. Should this be less feasible, we will recommend you to consider ACCA FIA qualification or LCCI qualification to build a stronger foundation for the ACCA studies.

Is ACCA a degree?

ACCA is a professional qualification. By completing up to 9 papers in ACCA, an ACCA student can be conferred a degree from Oxford Brookes University (OBU) UK (BSc in Applied Accounting) by passing the thesis requirements set by both ACCA & OBU. Upon completion of the 13 ACCA papers, many universities provide exemption into the Master’s programme, with some only requiring an ACCA graduate to complete 2 papers for their Masters’ programme.
